Windows 7 install question

I am planning on building a new computer, and I have heard that you can install the OS with a usb. It will be my first build and I was wondering if someone could tell me if it is cheaper to by a usb or a optical disk drive to install it. and if I use a usb should I get a usb 3.0 to do it?

A 6GB USB flash drive is about 10$, and an average optical drive around 30$. Don't buy an optical drive unless you need one. It doesn't matter if you use USB 2.0 or 3.0 except 3.0 would take like 5 seconds to install an OS.
