So first off I really don't know what I'm doing when it comes to building a computer so this is all guess work and I would really appreciate any help you can offer. This is what I have come up from a bit of research by molding a few other build guides into one. I willing to spend a more if a specific upgrade it is really going to be a lot better of a machine and will last that much longer.

the other question I had is that I have had multiple people telling me to go with an AMD card and that most pople follow intel for brand loyalty and I can get a lot more bang for my buck running an 8 core AMD for cheaper. And that since the new consoles will be running 8 cores developers are going to start utilizing all the cores where as previously they were not. Is this something I should look into?
ex: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819113285

I was originally going to run with a 750w PSU because I thought that I down the road one of the first things to upgrade would be the GPU and the most eddicient method to do that would be to run a SLI but I heard it wasn't worth it. Thoughts on this?

anywho... below are a few builds i cooked up. Please make any changes or recommendations as you see fit.

PS - I was just told the CPU cooler and my memory will not work together. Any recommendations on replacing one part of the other to make it run better?

As stated and as you know, the RAM won't fit. Grab this: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gskill-memory-f31866c9d8gab
I know blue doesn't match the board but you won't be able to see the RAM anyways.

SLI isn't a horrible idea. There is some micro-stuttering but it's not nearly as bad as AMD. That being said, it's still a viable choice. Great psu for it's price. It allows overclocking and SLI: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1750bbefx

There's been a lot of controversy over new games may be using more cores. They may or may not. We will never know until the time comes. That's why I would always recommend just sticking with a system that runs present games extremely well.

Thanks for the help. Is there much of a difference between the different G.skill models assuming same total ram and speed (ripjaw x, z, sniper, trident are all within 5-10 dollars of one another)?
Speaking of which, am i going to notice the a difference in speed between the 1600 and the 1866?

Otherwise I was just planning on going with the ripjaw x 1600 because I have seen that recommended the most often but if there is a decent reason why Im always down to change it up

oh! and I just noticed on my motherboard it recommends 1333 or 1600. If running 1866 is better can you recommend a new motherboard in my price range that will work well.

THANK YOU!!

There really is no difference in performance. It's just mainly looks and the heatspreaders.
However, why grab the ripjaws? The ares will perform the same and it also guarantees that the NH-D14 will fit. The NH-D14 is a huge cpu cooler and you will want low-profile ram just in case.
The difference between 1600 and 1866mhz ram is negligible. Just stick with 1600mhz ram.

Okay thanks, I just went with he Ripjaws because both on this and another forum I posted my build on, everyone who mentioned I get a different card suggested one ripjaw models (including yourself). With that being said, is the NH-D14 a good choice for a cooler or should i consider a smaller one?

how does this build look

There's no point of getting 16gb of ram in a gaming system. Grab the 2x4gb of ram I mentioned above.

Rosewill Hive isn't the best psu. I would recommend the XFX 550w but its non-modular if you're fine with that. It may take more time to hide everything on the back, but the higher quality is worth it IMHO.

you should be able to overclock the 4670k pretty good since the Nh-D14 does such a good job at cooling.
