This being my first post on Tom's Hardware, I figured I'd start off with a question of my own.

I just bought a new PC after having suffered with a Mac since 2008. This is mostly because I want to get back into gaming. Mainly, Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The machine I just bought definitely is not a hardcore gaming rig but I eventually want to get it to be. I'm hoping someone here can help me out, I'll post the specs.

Processor: 3.4 GHz A Series Quad Core A10 5700
RAM: 8 GB DDR3
Graphics Coprocessor: AMD Radeon HD 7660D

The GPU is what I'm mainly worried about. Still, I don't plan on playing too many open game worlds and I do not think CS:GO is too intensive of a game for me to not be able to play. On this Mac, which is a 2.0 ghz Intel Duo Core with 2GB DDR3 RAM and a GeForce 9600, I hovered at/below 60FPS, on BOOTCAMP.

I see this computer as a significant upgrade from that and thus believe that CSGO will run pretty much perfectly on high settings on this machine, but I could be wrong, so that's why I came here, to ask people who know way more than I do.

I appreciate any input on this situation, and it's nice to be able to post here.

you can play bf3 at low settings with ~30fps
cs go shouldn't be a problem ~50-60fps at max settings

50-60? Damn, I was hoping I could get 100fps on high settings. Still hopeful, but I appreciate the input.

unless your monitor supports 120Hz I would not worry about that unless you really like screen tearing? 60fps vsync'ed would be good as that would give you smooth game play.

And this is the reason I need people who know things like this. My monitor only supports 60Hz. I'm just hoping that the gameplay is not choppy and will run as smoothly as I'm hoping.

Does having an APU stop the chance of me upgrading my GPU in the future? And/or there's nothing stopping me from removing that APU and replacing it with a better processor, is there? Sorry I sound like such a new guy to computers. More knowledgable on the software side of it.

apu is like intel's integrated graphics you dont need to use it you can always add a gpu and you can also switch cpus no problem you'll just be removing the apu with your old cpu
your gameplay should be fine as cs go isn't graphics intensive i was able to play cs go with low settings on intel's hd 4000 and because the 7660d is better than the hd 4000 you should be fine with it if you're going to only play cs go

I wonder if crossfiring with another video card would be a cheaper solution than buying a whole new processor and video card. Not even sure there's a space on my motherboard for a different cpu. At least performancewise, if it would make enough of a difference.
