I built a new pc a little under 2 months ago and today when playing a game the pc crashed power light started to blink and the smell of something burning.I shut off the power supply and hoped nothing died. when i plugged it back in the leds and fans started to come on but no picture. The fan on the graphics card would spin for a second and stop,i tried another older card and the fan would spin but still no piture. The board has 4
cpu phase leds and 1 3 and 4 will light up but not 2. I uninstalled all my components and heard no beeping sound from the board when i powered on. I have no way to test the cpu ram or grapics card if they are the problem. I reset cmos and still nothing, can someone help?

That board is known for VRM failure/issues. I suggest a RMA.

thanks for the replies guys, when looking over the board i found a small scorch mark
by the sfc i think it is? Im gonna take Werners advice and get the asus board.Ill still
RMA the msi board and hope i can sell it to recoup a little of my money. Now all i have to
do is pray nothing else was damaged because i cannot afford anymore replacements.

Hi guys i got the new board in but im still getting the same problems. When i plugged up
everything it will power up but it just doesnt seem like enough power is going to the
components. the case fans will spin stop and start spinning again the cpu fan seems
really slow and the fan on the graphics card will start for a second then stop.Is the power
supply the cause or is my cpu dead?

Yeah i meant the asus board, i unfortunately dont have a power supply that will fit the
motherboard and i dont have another cpu to test, i went through the steps in the guide
and still no post, i dont even get a beep when the rest of the components are pulled from the board. So unless the board i got is doa the only things that can be the problem are the cpu or psu.

Well i got a cheap psu and tried that and i get the same response and non response
as the the other psu, leds will light fans will spin stop and spin again but no post
or beeps, its the cpu or im getting nothing but doa parts, and the odds of that is pretty
low im sure.

Its me again someone let me borrow a cpu that fit the socket and the pc finally booted up, so it was the cpu and motherboard and im pretty sure the psu to, i didnt open it because i dont want to void the warranty but i can see at least 1 cap has ruptured. It seems like 1 of my
ram sticks is gone also, when trying to reinstall windows it would constantly stall and give an error code but it did finally finish but the pc
would barely make it past the asus screen before it would freeze, took out 1 stick of ram and everything ran perfectly, put in the other stick
and nothing but crashes. This budget build has turned out to cost me more than i bargained for, oh well be thankful for whats not dead i guess. I had no idea so many components could fail all at once.
