If you can buy a GTX 660 Ti for 150$ then go for it !.
It's a fast card and it usually costs a lot more than that.

First, the GTX 650 Ti's will be a bit faster than the GTX 660 Ti, but then again if you go with the 660 Ti you can add another one in the future.
Also, the GTX 650 Ti Boost is a lot faster than the normal GTX 650 Ti and is around the same price point.
Grab two of those if you can.
They perform better than a GTX 770.

wait i am a bit confused. is your budget of $400 for the whole machine or just the gpu. the 650 ti is a $160 card and i can see you making a decent $400 rig with that. on the other hand the 660 ti is much more powerful and can run as high as $300. obviously go for the 660 ti if its in your price range and down the road upgrade with another one in sli when prices come down.

also why the i5 2400 and not an fx 4350, 6350, or 8350? the amd fx cpu are all unlocked while intels cpu are not unlocked unless they have the k at the end of the name - ie 2400k. i think the amds are cheaper as well. also if you are thinking of future proofing you might want to really consider the amd cpus as the new consoles are biased towards amd and games are more likely to be optimized for that. game engines with next gen in mind like in crysis 3 get better performance on the fx8350 than comparable i5 cpus.

as for the 650ti in sli - please look up your own benchmarks. they cannot possibly be that hard to find on goggle. but i do think you should be aware that sli setups generally draw more power than comparable 1 card setups. you need a bigger more expensive psu for sli. furthermore, they could cause stuttering in framerates when one card takes to long and renders every other frame on a slight delay.

i recently saw an evga 760 4gb for about $300. definitely excellent value for money. but, if i was you, and i was set on the 760, i would wait a few months for the 760 ti. as for asus vs msi - both are reputable brands, can't go wrong with either. however if you really care about stability as opposed to raw power i would go for an evga or a pny - those tend to have closer relationships with nvidia from what i have seen. also you should be aware a high end gpu like that may require a more powerful psu. i recommend looking up a psu calculator on google. just type in psu calculator - there are lots out there, just choose one - and type in all your specs - it will tell you how much you need from your psu. i am just worried that 500w psu might not cut it for a 660 ti or a 760.
