Hello, I'm new to this computer building stuff and I was wondering if my CPU supports my motherboard.

CPU; AMD x2 A6-5400K Dual Core 3.6Ghz/1M/65W FM2 CPU

motherboard; ASRock 980DE3-U3S3 AM3 980/4xDDR3/SATA3/USB3/RAID/GLAN/ATX Motherboard

And I'm not sure what this means.
- Support for Socket AM3 processors: AMD Phenom? II X6 / X4 / X3 / X2 (except 920 / 940) / Athlon II X4 / X3 / X2 / Sempron processors

Nope, you need to get ones of the same socket.
