Need help choosing a motherboard

So at comiccon my fiance and both received A8 6600k CPUs. Now that we have this component I was thinking its a good time to upgrade. However I am not sure what mobo to buy. (current ones are am3+)

So the main difference between our setups are that I have a HD 7870 and she has a HD 6670. So it may be worth her using the hybrid crossfire (or whatever they are calling it these days.)

I would like this board to last a few upgrade cycles.
Here are the ones I was looking at currently...

More about choosing motherboard
  1. If it matters at all, my current CPU is a AMD FX 4100. I doubt how much of an upgrade the CPU would be (seeing as how I will probably never use the integrated graphics when I have a HD7870.) My current mobo only has sata 1.0 when I use SSD, and a PCIE 1.0 x16. So there are a few things out of date on mine, but hers is from the DDR2 era.

For that CPU, you need a FM2 Motherboard, hence you should be just fine with this A85x Motherboard from Gigabyte. This is a very good motherboard for the price with all the fancy features that you would ever need. Also this can easily fit in a 7870 so it should be fine. So this is the motherboard you should go for :

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-F2A85XM-D3H Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard ($64.99 @ NCIX US)
    Total: $64.99
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Thanks a lot! Also do you think it is worth getting a different heatsink while i'm at it?
  4. If you are overclocking the processor then yes get a heatsink. If you are not into overclocking and all that stuff, then better use the cooler that came with the CPU.
