Hey guys, I know that a three prong case fan can go into a four prong mobo, but I'm kind of concerned about my setup.

In particular, the case fan prings will fit into the mobo prongs either way.

Anyway, what I did was check my mobo manual which shows where the "grounding pin" is (i.e., black) and matched based on that (which also means the "tongue" groove lines up).

That said, I can't tell if the fan is running or not. Is there anyway for me to do a test that will verify this?

Also, is the fan supposed to run all the time or just under certain conditions?

Thanks.

Unless you have it somehow turned off, or only to run at a certain time, via some software, it should be running all the time.

Third-Party Programs like HWMonitor or Speedfan should be able to tell you if the fan is running or not, without you having to pry your case apart to sneak a peak.
