it really depends on your budget for the card, your monitors resolution, and what you'll be doing with the card (most likely gaming, but there are other uses)

Get an amd 7870 or gtx 660 or higher, i cant recommend a graphic that's lower spec than these two. It depends on you PSU as well. whats your wattage? also what games will you play. Bottlenecking is another factor, looking at the specs anything higher might be useless due to the current hardware you have.

If you don't overclock you shouldn't need any type of special cooling. In your budget range I'd recommend getting the Gigabyte GTX 650 Ti Boost http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00C12M9CM/ref=as_li_q... It is a beast of a performer for the price.

Between these two cards, which is the stronger one giving the edge over most games played at 1920x1080?

Gtx 650 Ti Boost 2GB
Or
2GB HD 7850?
I can get either for around the same price so it comes down to better performance, which of these 2 is generally the stronger one in most games at 1080P?

If you have a decent 500w or more PSU then the best bang for your buck is an EVGA GTX 760 SC w/ ACX http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DHW4HXY/ref=as_li_q...

Here is a comparison of the 7950 and 760: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/854?vs=856

As you can see, both cards trade blows. However, you can get an HD 7950 for ~$50 less than the 760 that includes an additional gigabyte of VRAM, and three free games of your choice.

HD 7950: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

However, if the creator of this thread does not have a high resolution monitor, or a sufficiently powerful power supply - or if these cards are out of his / her budget - I would not recommend either.

More information is needed about his / her system, potential uses of said system, and price range.

i was at the same point as you choosing between those same exact cards for the same budget both the gtx 650 ti boost and the 7850 are very similair in performance cards, for only about ten dollars more people were telling me that the 7870 2gb oc is the best out of the 3 and is amazing for my needs it runs battlefield 3 on ultra/high graphics at 45-60 fps its better than the gtx 660 also so due what you like here is the card i am speaking of:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
also you get 2 free games and is cheaper than the gtx 650 ti boost with mail in reabates!
