As I'm writing this, i am test booting my first PC build.

Meaning, I'm having the motherboard on top of the motherboard case, with: CPU, CPU heatsink, RAM, GPU & PSU. With a DVI cable to my new asus monitor. Every power & other cables plugged in firmly.

(My motherboard is a Asus Z87-A)

When i turned on the PC, I in-countered following errors:

- My post speaker beeps 1 time, meaning everything is ok. But then after 5 seconds, it beeps 1 long & 4 short.

- Boot Device LED light stays on, on the motherboard.

- My monitors shows some information, some of that saying "Cpu fan error" press f1.

so ye..

Post speaker making weird beeps, motherboard displaying errors with its led light and my monitor showing cpu fan error....what more could go wrong :(?

First, check the obvious...is your CPU heatsink fan plugged into the motherboard CPU_FAN header?

ok so, i read in another post that changing the cpu fan speed limit rpm from 600 to ignore should help. So i went advanced - monitor - cpu (rpm) speed limit: 600 to cpu (rpm) speed limit: ignore. Now instead of 280rpm, my cpu fan is running around 500 rpm.
And doing this made the weird beeps go away, now it only beeps one short, meaning its all ok. And the cpu fan error screen is gone too :)

What exacly did i just do by changing that one setting? Can my cpu overheat due to this change, or does it make more noise then neccesary?

If any1 could give me an understanding of why that change solved some of the errors, and most important, does it have any negative sides putting it to "ignore"?

- Yet the boot device LED still stays lit, I haven't hooked up any storage devices cause its just a test boot, is that why?
