Ok so I recently made my own computer, the specs are fine and it can play any game perfectly with no problems, including Skyrim on Ultra with mods etc etc. It can also record with Fraps full-size at 60 FPS with a tiny performance decrease.

I have a YouTube channel with almost 14,000 subs and I recently switched to PC gaming, I have a 1920x1080 resolution monitor and that's the size I game at. Now I want to record the best quality possible using Fraps but it seems although the rendered videos are fine, when uploaded to YouTube they get a huge loss in quality (even though you can watch them in 1080p).

My question is, what is the best possible way to get the best quality videos for Skyrim and other games using Fraps and playing on 1920x1080? Should I play on 1280x720 when I record? Would that help?

Basically my video making process goes like this:

Record video using Fraps on 1920x1080.
Compress videos using Handbrake.
Import into Vegas 11, edit, render at 1920x1080.
Video looks perfect.
Upload to YouTube, huge loss in quality even at 1920x1080.

That sounds a little strange. Youtube does lose quality in videos but usually not but much.

These are things that I would do to try to solve the issue:

1.) Make sure the file format you're using is supported by Youtube. Here's a list for you.

2.) Some formats may be higher quality than others for uploading, even on the supported list. If I were you, I'd upload 1 video (probably small) of every format using the process you use listed as a private video to test things out.

3.) If those don't work, I'd upload a video to youtube (Again privately listed) where the video is upscaled. See if "Original" quality is better or not.

If these don't help, I'm honestly not sure what to do. I upload rarely so this is all I can offer. =/

Frame rate no higher than 30fps, Youtube only plays 30fps or less. Bit rate, stay around 7mbs or lower, high bit rate will transcode lower. Out put use H.264

Remember not everyone has great internet connection, yes 1080 looks awesome, so does 720HD.

Once uploaded to YouTube, allow you tube time to transcode for streaming. A large file will take time. If you upload 1080 and you do not see that option in YouTube settings, and the only see 480, YouTube has not finished transcoding your video.
