I bought a BenQ monitor which is hooked up to my pc via HDMI (INTO THE GRAPHICS CARD- GTX 770)

My old monitor only supports the VGA input.

I would like to use the old monitor for semi afk gaming while i do my normal activities on the BenQ. I can only connect my old monitor to the motherboard because there is no VGA slot on my graphics card.

I have tried this and the old monitor simply shows a black screen. although it says "reconnect cable" or some variant of that when i take out the vga.

Is it not possible to use these two monitors in this way?

Most motherboards don't support using the integrated graphics chipset at the same time as a discrete card. That being said, why wouldn't you be doing your gaming on your gaming grade monitor that connected to a higher quality connection? Either way, i would connect both to the card and i'm guessing your card probably has a DVI output that you can get a cheap adapter for to get VGA out of the card (i have 2 rigs that i've done this on). These adapters are super cheap, and the easiest way to get VGA on a higher end card that doesn't have VGA:

There, $2.50 for one, shipped.

+1 to the adapter.

The motherboard isn't outputting any signal because your GTX 770 is performing the duty.

Its because i want to run eve online on the old monitor, which i can do pretty much afk and stay up to date with stuff and make a little in game money. Then on the good monitor i could play some counter strike or borderlands or something.

I know the way i said it before sounded weird. but it makes sense to me :D
(its basically for multitasking, and prioritising the things im paying more attention to by using them on the better monitor)

Ill try one of those adapters, thanks
