Hey. My cpu temps with a hyper 212 evo and an athlon x4 760k ( pretty much an a10-6800k) are around 50 degrees idle and 65 ish under full load. is this normal? bear in mind that i only have 1 80mm case fan and only 1 120mm fan on the hyper 212 evo, are these normal? the fan never seems to pass 1000 rpm
Many thanks

Solution

your idle temps seems high, but your full load temps are okay. I would suggest reapplying some good quality thermal paste and making sure the cpu cooler is attached well

at max the CPU fan should hit 1800 -2000 RPM's. This is at max RPM though. as that CPU is so new there is little info on max temps and will take time to get those temps in as usual. If you feel those temps are to high you can try setting the Hardware monitor in bios to 45°C and to 10 speed. this will set the fan to be at max speed all the time. usually the 45°C temp is where the fan will start to increase the RPM's and the Fan speed will dictate the percentage (%) the fan will run at its minimum.

Have you had this temps since you installed your CM212 or has it recently occurred? also what program did you use to monitor the temp? also have you enable cool n quiet features in your bios or other fan control settings?

on a side note, the stock cm should be okay, but something like acrtic silver mx-4 or mx-2 is good and may provide ~1-2c better temps then a cheaper brand, however they will last longer and wont need to be reapplied.

I use on my Hyper 212 Evo the stock compound that came with it but on my other machine I use artic silver-5 but it is conductive and should be used by experienced persons. MX-4 is you best option if this is your first time as it is non-conductive.

What are you ambient (room) temperatures? A 15 degree spread from idle to load is actually nice, although both temperatures seem rather high. (Max core temperature, I believe, is 72C.)

Like others have recommended, I would try reinstalling the unit, being sure to reapply the thermal compound. Arctic Cooling MX-4 is great stuff.
