I have a HD 6950 and I want to upgrade soon, I know I should wait till Oct or November for the next generation from AMD and Nvidia but I hate waiting. Do you guys think that an upgrade from a 6950 to a 760 would be a big enough of an upgrade?

It should be a nice upgrade. I would if you can though go with a GTX 770.

As far as waiting I do not really go for the waiting game. If you wait there will always be something new just around the corner. PC components move at such a fast pace that there will always be something new coming. A GTX 760 or 770 will still be a great upgrade for some time same goes for the AMD/ATI side with the 7950/7970. Just make sure your PSU can handle the upgrade.

Just upgraded my CPU I have a 4770k right now. I can run most games at highest settings but I don't get consistant FPS in them.

The only thing that worries me is If the new Sea Island (Volcanic Island whatever) architecture is going to be a huge leap over the HD 7xxx series or not. If it is I will feel like I wasted my money. I would go with the 770 but I would rather not spend over $250.

Personally...HD 6950 is not that bad. Maybe the fps could not satisfy u but if the game is smooth I think it's enough. Yes, waiting could be such annoying but I really don't think GTX 760 could make much difference on the real experience just on some meaningless increased fps. Neither is the HD 8xxx.

Anyway, if my answer still don't satisfy u, just go GTX 760 anyway. I don't think it would give u a big leap except for the number of the fps increased. (BTW, I am using FX-6300 + Yard Sale HD 6970...budget matters >3)
