Would it be worth getting haswell if you pay 30$ more? Ive heard countless overheating issues, and even seen videos of people replacing the thermal paste within the cpu.

The z77 boards also have the plus of being tried and tested, they are also cheaper.

Im not upgrading im selling my current pc and doing a completely new build

Haswell doesn't OC as well as IB .... but IB OC's no where near as well as SB.

When all is said and done, overclocked, the three CPUs don't perform all that much differently. If ya have a SB or IB system, I see no reason to upgrade. But the Haswell / IB or SB decision rests more on the socket than the CPU performance. If building new anyway, 1155 is a dead end. If ya MoBo dies.... replacing it 12-18 months from now means that ya need to replace the MoBo and CPU, cause by then 1155 CPus wont fit in anything .... just like 1156 CPUs dont fit in anything now.

And those "delidding" videos ya saw....that all started with IB.

newegg has had some astounding combos since haswell's release ... if ya can snag one of those 4770k MoBo /...

Depends what you currently have.

Haswell is a decent architecture though not a very significant one. The GPU core is better, IPC has improved a bit and power consumption is a bit better in some places. But it still overall offers only usually around 15% of a peformance improvment over Ivy.

If you're coming from an old chip like a Phenom II 965 or some Core 2 era chip then yes i would make the upgrade.

After doing a bit of reading on Haswell, I don't feel so out of date with my i5-3570K. The IPC improvements are offset by the much lower overclocking headroom, and average power usage stayed flat or went up slightly. This direction isn't good for the enthusiasts if it continues.
