As the title says, with hyperthreading turned off and only using 4 cores instead of 8, the performance of gamings drastically decrease by at least 70 or 80% which makes the cpu seem useless without hyperthreading. I don't feel like this is normal at all. Also when I go to msconfig and go to the boot menu to change number of processors to 4, the task manager picks up that i have 4 cores when i restart, but Real Temp only picks up 2 cores. I have no clue why this cpu is doing so bad without hyperthreading. Could anyone explain to me why this is happening?

Setting the Number of processors to 4 in msconfig does not turn off hyper threading. What you have done is you have turned off access to 4 threads. You now have only 2 hyper threaded cores. RealTemp correctly shows that you have only 2 cores running. Both cores can still run 2 threads each so the Windows Task Manager shows 4 graphs. CPU-Z should also show you what you have done. It will show 2 Cores and 4 Threads.

That's why performance sucks when you do this. You have disabled half of your CPU.
