Best CPU for Multi-Game Botting?

Hello Tom's Hardware,

I googled for some answers but couldn't find one that pleased me enough. I basically need to find the best performing CPU with the best performance-price ratio that will support heavy Multi-botting in games (such as World of Warcraft). I know the game "doesn't" allow it, but that's not the kind of judgment I'm looking for.

My budget goes up to $250 tops even though I would prefer something below $200.


Current specs and Info:

I currently have a 3GB Sapphire Radeon 7950 HD ATI video card which works nicely. A 3.3 GHz AMD FX-6100 which is kinda crappy. I have good air flow, heatsinks, etc. My CPU runs at 35Cº Idle and 52Cº at full 100% load. Also 16GB of RAM. Solid State Drive. 1000W Thermaltake PSU.

Currently I'm running 7 bots, they fluctuate between 60 and 70% CPU load. The problem shows up when I start gaming on top of the bots, it's too much load for the CPU and GPU. (Mostly the CPU, I have yet to see the GPU reach 100% load)

Multi botting means there will be 1 instance of the game + 1 instance of the bot open at the same time, working concurrently. Basically I want to run as many bots as possible without hitting 90% load. On this FX-6100 they use up about 6-10% of the CPU depending on what they are doing.


So, what do you think is the best CPU that will serve this purpose? Any other additions? Remember, looking for the best performance-price ratio.

Note: It doesn't have to be AMD CPU, I could also use an Intel CPU since I was planning on replacing my Motherboard.

Note 2: Overclocking doesn't work for me, I get too many system failures when I try to overclock my CPU. I'm almost sure it's my Motherboard's fault so I might have to consider replacing it.

It doesn't seem like a big upgrade because it's a four core, but it actually is a huge upgrade and is arguably the best gaming processor until you need $1000 monsters.

It's much more efficient, which means that each core produces less heat, and does way more work per clock than the 6100 does. It's faster, and can overclock just as well, and it's a quad core, which is plenty for gaming. Trust me, it's a noticeable improvement - having 8 'cores' doesn't do that much yet (especially since for single-precision work, i.e. gaming, the 8350 is only a 4-core anyways), and ivy bridge / haswell is much faster clock-for-clock.

I don't multibot, but using softxpand, I can easily run 3 copies of an MMO (ddo) all full gaming and only get about 60% CPU load on an overclocked i5-3570k. Overclocking on an ivy bridge chip like this with a z77 motherboard is extremely easy and shouldn't cause stability issues at ALL if it's done remotely close to correctly.

Well, I thought about the i5 you are suggesting but it doesn't seem like that big of an upgrade, any other suggestions?

The Zambezi Gen is horrid in general. Anything is better than the x1xx AMD FX cpus.

From experience in pvp 3-boxing in WoW, having had the 4100 previously and upgrade to an 8350 was an amazing I don't really care to bench cpu loads on a game like WoW, it really isn't intensive so I have no numbers for you.
I would suggest an 8320 OC, 8350 OC, 3570k OC. I've been hearing good things about a 6350 OC, if you don't want to spend much.

Personally I would just hitch it to a 8350, it will give you some much needed load space.

When you say you're gaming on top of the 7 bots, is it a different game or just another WoW session?
