Okay. I came down to these 3 CPUs. I am shopping at my local microcenter. so my options are the i5-4670k ($199), i5-3570k ($189), Intel Xeon e3 1230v2, ($199), or for the AMD solution the FX-8350 ($179). I do plan on overclocking so can i overclock the Xeon?

As far as an upgrade path, next CPU line due out is Broadwell (looking like 2015, which is suppose to be same socket, but will no doubt come with a new chipset (like Sandy Bridge had P67/Z68 chipsets, then they came out with Ivy B in the same socket but with the Z77 chipset), and will also (by then) be coming with DDR4 DRAM, so the curretn Z87 mobos while can be an upgrade path, have my doubts many will want to use them

Okay now my options we the 3570k and 4670k. I will be only using this for gaming. And I play heavily CPU games like planetside 2. How will the 3570k and 4670k be different in single-core performance. Which overclocks better? Is it worth it to get the 4670k over the 3570k for only $10 more?

what would you recommend for gaming? Is there a difference visually? This will be like my next-gen console. Dedicated for gaming. Should I mention the games I will be playing?

Will hear pros both ways, since you can never be sure of what you'll get CPU wise, I lean to the IB and the 3570K as in general the OC better, but never know may get a dog or may get a Gem of an OCer either way, think chances are better with the IB

I recommend the 4670K because of it's new socket. LGA 1150. Which Intel will in all likelihood they will continue to use it for the foreseeable future, so if you want to upgrade in 2-3 years, it will be easier. Because then you would not have to upgrade both the motherboard and the CPU.

I thought Skylake will be the 5th Generation Processors. So Broadwell will be the 6th or 5th gen? I need a CPU dedicated for only gaming. I play a heavy CPU intensive game called planetside 2 so i need a good CPU
