Will upgrading my router help me?

Hey! Quick question! I own a Netgear WNDR3400v2 with our internet being 25/1. We currently have 19 devices connected plus or minus 2-3 when family visit/leave. I am currently only using WiFi and I notice from time to time typically when I need the internet the most (go figure) it'll disconnect and give the "no internet access" error. I'll also notice at times it'll be slow but I'm assuming that's just bandwidth taking its toll.

Basically I'm wondering if I were to upgrade my router would I notice an improvement in speed/reliability? More so reliability but if getting a better router would also increase speed then awesome! I'm currently looking at an Asus RT-N66R from BestBuy. I'm quite familiar with the networking terminology and I realize this is only 802.11n and not 802.11ac but I still think its too early for Wireless AC plus i'm not interested in spending more money just so my devices will work with it. Wireless N should last a good while and I'm happy with the performance i've got out of the Netgear but I want something more reliable. So do you think the WNDR3400v2 is suffering from the amount of devices connected and an upgrade would definitely help or could it just be my ISP?

Thank you so much!

EDIT: Should also mention that i'm using a USB Wifi Adapter, rosewill rnx-n600ube, could this be the cause of the disconnects?

Solution
I doubt it would make a significant difference - your existing router looks pretty reasonable.

Your best option would be to either have two WAPs and share the load, or try to migrate to Ethernet where possible.

Alright, Thanks for the reply! That's basically what I was curious about on whether or not an upgrade would be a worthy investment. I'll take your advice and change a few things around maybe run some ethernet. Thanks!
