Help me make up my mind for a new motherboard

I'm building a new gaming PC and can't decide on a motherboard.

The two at the top of my list are the MSI Z77A-G43 Motherboard ($85) and MSI Z77A-GD45 Gaming Motherboard ($125). I'll be using a Intel Core i7 3770 3.4GHz CPU. I plan on purchasing a GPU at a later date and will use onboard video until then.

Can anybody offer some guidance?

Thank you.

  1. What kind of budget are you looking at?

But I'd probably go with the MSI GD45
  2. John,

I'm looking to keep it around $100-ish. Max $150.

    Here's a Gigabyte Z77x UD3H- $144.99

    It's great for the price.

Go with the cheaper G43. The G45 is more expensive because it has two pci-e X16 slots so you can run cf/sli.
That is an expensive proposition. Only if you anticipate triple monitor gaming with high end graphics cards would the extra expense be justified.
Since you will be using a 3770, not a "K", you will not be able to overclock
Then, why not use a cheaper B75 based motherboard like this $55

That's an alright-looking board, but it doesn't have enough PCI slots for my needs. I'll be installing a dedicated sound card, firewire card, WiFi card, and (eventually) a GPU.
