When I play GTA IV, on max settings and vsync off, I get around 40fps. I have a 660ti.

Then the screen goes blank, and then goes back to the game, the frame rate is at 6 fps, and I ctrl+esc from the game, I reopen it after a minute, and the frames are restored. However, I check MSI Afterburner and it said that my gpu power % jumped to 368%. It does this every 5-10 minutes or so.

How can I fix this?

I don't think so- I have a i5-3570k. It's currently running at stock though. I've been scouring the Internet for hours trying to find solutions. Can't find one that works.

So I've heard........ I'm wondering if there's some magical line of code on the Internet somewhere I haven't found... Something like the magical line of code for Fallout 3. For now I'll just have to deal with the crashes.

Try re-installing the game? As long as it's not a pirated version I don't see why the crashes would occur unless the game doesn't like your drivers. If you are running beta drivers try rolling back to the last official stable driver.

It's a legit version- got it off of a Steam sale. But reinstalling the game isn't really an option... I just got done downloading updates. It took me about 10 days to get them all downloaded...

As for drivers I'm currently using the Beat 326.19 driver, so I'll download driver 314.22 to try it out.
