Hey all, small dillemea regarding IGPU + GPU

For the life of me I cannot get the IGFX enabled on my 3570K / Z77X D3H. I would like to mess around with Virtu MVP, therefore I would like 1 monitor be connected to the IGFX and the other Connected to my Discrete G/Card. I already have a been using a dual monitor extended desktop, but I usually would turn one off before playing a game, I would like to know if there is another viable option. I have also heard of a performance increase in things like encoding video.

Specs:
i5 3570K
Z77X D3H
8Gb DDR3 1600
HD6870

What I have tried thus far,

Enabled the IGFX in BIOS, set Initial First Display to PEG, connected a 2nd monitor to the both motherboard display ports (separately), the result was a constant boot cycle after the gigabyte logo for both ports.

Enabled the IGFX in BIOS, set Initial First Display to IGFX, connected only 1 monitor to the motherboards VGA port and DVI port, same result on each port, boot cycle after BIOS logo.

Tried altering the shared memory right up until 1024Mb, no go. Tried this all at stock speeds and voltages and at overclocked settings, still a no go.

I have installed the Intel HD4000 drivers but I had to remove the 6870 in order to use the IGPU so the CPU is still functioning correctly.

Now I had already assumed that its a choice between one or the other, but after coming across some information on Virtu MVP, I was curious to see if my chipset and CPU support a dual GPU setup with the integrated GPU and the discrete GPU.
Apparently its possible, but the "how" part has me scratching my head.

So is there anyone with "My CPU and Mobo" who has gotten this to work, or is it a waste of time trying?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

MaKe sure the mb bios is updated. In the bios under primay display should be a setting called muilty monitor. It needs to be enabled to work.
Also check your mb spec to see if they put the MVP chipset on the mb.

Motherboard supports MVP (Z77X D3H) according to Gigabyte product page, BIOS is the latest (F16), no such setting called MultiMonitor on my Gigabyte Z77 board I'm afraid.

I have the exact same problem here can't do anything with the same setup you have except for the GPU

Ok I actually got it sorted, just forgot to post what I did. Do you happen to have more than one hard drive connected?

For me it turned out to be a problem with the way I installed Win 7. Usually I would disconnect all my hard drives and leave only the one connected that I was installing windows to. There must have been boot files spread over the disks messing with the initial boot procedure. I tried everything first as I am pretty sure you have also. I even had a two week long back and forth with Gigabyte and they had no idea either. Do a C drive back up just in case its not your problem so you can revert back, and then reinstall windows with only your windows drive connected.

Well if the 4000 driver won't install then 'as a last resort' you could do a windows reinstall. I am only guessing it was my hard drive configuration, it could have been something else entirely, its just the only thing I could think of that made sense. Keep me posted.
