Do you recommend the gtx 770 or 780? I've seen people say the 780 is only worth it if your resolution is over 1080p

for 1080p gaming 770gtx is more than enough to be honest. Its just some people prefers raw power whatever. thats why I suggested with an alternative. If I were you I'd go for my 1st build with 770 hehe. much better system in general.

so also if you were to choose the 1st system with 770, you can also try 7970OC or GHZ models for a similar price. But Im always a Nvidia customer :D

dont mind the fact that I am using a 7870xt in my current build as seen in my signature. didnt have the cash to splash for something better for that price range at that time lol
