which parts of a system can be used in your next one? i.e. to save money

Hi I was just wondering about this? Obviously not CPU or motherboard, but RAM and a PSU would be fine, wouldnt they? (assuming the PSU was powerful enough). And a case would as well as they don't matter that much. Are any others reusable and am I wrong on any of the above?

about RAM: if ur older system has DDR2 it will not be compatible with current DDR3 systems, otherwise u can reuse it
yes, u can reuse the PSU if its of good quality
and the case if all ur new components fit into it
u can also reuse ur Optical Drive

Thanks. If I completely wiped the os and drivers from the HDD could I use it as storage for games and media?
