Do you think that 80$ is a good price for i5-750?
And what about Gigabyte P55A-UD3R for 50$?
EDIT: I forgot, would it be fine with a GeForce 9800 GT?

Solution
CPU/mobo:

The i5-750 has plenty of life in it still. With a decent cooler you can overclock it to ~3.4 GHz easily. The LGA1156 socket on the P55 motherboards is a dead-end, yes, but so is any socket in any motherboard you can buy now in a couple of years. So unless you're planning another upgrade within a year, the motherboard is just as good as any other.

So it all comes down to the price. If the i5-750/P55 combo is significantly cheaper than an equivalent LGA1155 or LGA1150 build, I'd say go for it. The difference in CPU speeds even to the newest Haswells is not that significant, especially after the overclock, if your main use is gaming.

GPU:

I would definitely suggest a better GPU if you plan on doing any serious...

i5 750 is tie with Phenom 965BE in almost all application..including games, rendering etc.
You can get new Phenom II 965BE @US$ 99..

so $80 for used i5 750, that's too expensive..

about the motherboard, well, LGA1156 platform is dead..you will have a big trouble for future upgrade..

and also 9800GT..this old king is very weak for today games.
This card ever much slower than "low end" hd 6770..
Get a better card..

I would definitely suggest a better GPU if you plan on doing any serious gaming. Have a look at either GTX 660 Ti, GTX 760 or even the GTX 690 (if the latter is still available) for reasonably priced yet fast GPUs. Then again, even a second-hand Radeon HD5850 or a GTX 650 Ti Boost would be much faster than the 9800GT, and cost $140 or less.

Disclaimer: I'm currently running an i5-750 on an Asus P7P55D-E Pro mobo with a new GPU. I don't see any reason to upgrade the cpu or motherboard in a good while. Nothing that's coming out in 2014 is going to make them obsolete, and in 2015 you're not guaranteed to be "future proof" even on the latest LGA1150 socket. So forget about "future proofing" and buy what's good value for your money right now. What you can save on the motherboard and cpu is better spent on more RAM and a faster GPU.

Damn good deal you can play alot of games even today with the GPU that comes with it. The cpu i5 750 is almost on par with the new i5's And still has plenty of time left. go for it. All you really have to do is get your ram up to atleast 8gb and you can get a great GPU for around 100 bucks. newegg has a MSI GTX 650Ti $114 and 25 dollar rebate. And they have a 7970 for 140 with the same rebate. Both very good cards. Just make sure the PSU is atleast 450-500w.

oops just realized the date on this post is old sorry. I saw this looking up i5 750 info and tried to help the lad.
