Its come to the time where my old GTS 250 cannot cope with the newer games that are coming out. So I've left myself to a decision. Either get a PS4 or get a GTX 770.

Personally I think upgrading my GPU is the best option but I would like to know your opinion. If I was going to go for a new GPU it would be this one. http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-GeForce-Superclocked-Graph...

Also would I be bottlenecking my rig:
i7 860 2.8ghz
GTS 250 (you know)
8gb 1333mhz RAM
P55-US3L

More about : ps4 gpu

if you are not really interested in playing ps4 exclusive games, then yes go for a gpu upgrade. Games like bf4 will look better on a pc then any console.

plus, im pretty sure after a year they will update the ps4 to fix issues ( first revision consoles are always shitty)

GTX 770 with out a doubt. it will beat the crap outta PS4's radeon HD 7870/7850, unless you are interested in PS4 exclusives like oczdude8 said.

You won't be bottlenecking your rig. you will enjoy every moment with your rig if you get a gtx 770. Provided you have 1080p monitor.

Like the PS3 and probably will get the PS4 when it comes down in price, but i'd still go for a new GPU.

Well that would obviously depend on what kind of games you play. PC with GTX770 has much more options in games, apart from the console exclusives. If you only play sports and racing games and Killzone is your idea of a good FPS, go for PS4. Otherwise it's not really even a choice, is it?

"Everyone here hates consoles", TRUE!. It's best if you ask why....
Better graphics,
games can be hacked,( Changing the gameplay speed, the money you have, etc.)
modded,
changed completely according to your desire if you have the knowledge.

Is there something that consoles have and pcs don't?

Better graphics for less money. Less hassle with components, drivers, compatibility issues, etc. Exclusive titles.

PC leads in a lot of things, but a good gaming rig costs a lot more than a console that will last you at least 5 years.

Thats a funny statement, because the i7 is almost 4 years old, and i still see no reason to upgrade the processor. Also the GTS 250 is a rebrand of a 9800GTX (5 years old this month) which is a rebrand of the 8800GTx (almost 6 years old) and I can tell you that it can still run some games in 1080p on low settings because I used one before I got my 7970.

I think I got that right.

"Running some games on low settings" is quite different from running all games on highest possible settings. Compare the games the 8800 GT can run to games the Xbox 360 can run. I'm no console fan and don't even own one, but you're kidding yourself if you think a gaming PC lasts as well as a console.

And also GTS 250 is faster and has double the memory compared to 8800 GT, so your argument is rather false.

@ekseli PS3 console lasts longer than PC because games are specificly made for consoles and later ported to PC. thats why PS3 which has a GPU chip equvilant to a GF 7800 or 7900, which is clearly weaker than GTS 250. but i do agree with with consoles giving good graphics for less money. and will likely last long due to better optimization.

Once you've got the right stuff you will find PCs barely have compatibility issues.(in fact consoles do)
The exclusive titles on a ps3 can be found on an xbox. and there are many good xbox emulators out there.

It depends what you like. Personally, the only reason I'll be buying a PS4 is for the exclusives, but for games like BF4, I'll be playing those on my GTX 770.

Agreed, consoles do give better graphics for the money. But still i would go for the 770. It will most certainly run for 5 years and wont let you down. Progress is speeding up, the ps4 will become old sooner than the ps3. The same goes for graphic cards. It would be wiser to buy a mid-range graphic card every tw years rather than buying a high-end graphic card every five years.

You can't make a better gaming rig at the price of a console
However it depends on what will you be gaming, a gtx 770 can run every game at highest possible settings

Forgot to mention im gaming in 1080p, while console gamers are sitting at 720p, I usually don't have to discuss that though. Also ive played games that have been super choppy on PS3 (TES:IV, Fallout 3, and TES:V) and have experienced many more bugs then on the PC version that is heavily modded with more textures, and additional lore friendly gameplay features. Also to the 8800 GTX, gts 250 were made cheaper with 512mb of memory, and clock speeds hardly matter for this type of chip in 1080p, because you will most likely have low-medium settings, with 1-3 fps differences.
