Hi.

One of my 2x1GB Kingston PC2 6400 DDR2 seems to be dead, now I'm planning to upgrade to DDR3 with 1x4GB Kingston Hyper-X DDR3 1600, I've dig thru my motherboard's specification:

Supports DDR3 1600/1333/1066/800 non-ECC, un-buffered memory

Its actually a DDR2 DDR3 combo motherboard. It seems that its compatible. I just wanna make sure that it really is with all my components.
And is it really advisable to buy a single stick or if I can have 2x2GB Kingston Hyper-X better? Cant seem to find it online anyway, or if Kingston made as such.
*update. it seems that its a kit of 2(dang! missed it), now my only issue is its compatibility with my current setup.

Not really playing heavy games just some MOBA games casually.
No plans of overclocking or whatever.

Specs:
Phenom II X4 840 @3.2
NVIDIA GeForce GT 640
ASRock N68C-GS FX
600W PSU

Thanks

Hello,:hello:

In a DDR2/DDR3 combo motherboard you must always remember that you cannot install both simultaneously. You must either install DDR2 or DDR3, installing both will never work.

Yes, DDR3 1600MHz HyperX memory is compatible with your system. Since, you are saying that you are not into gaming or planning to OC then I do not think you really need Advanced ram such as the HyperX. You can go with Kingston ValueRAM or other brands.

Check the below links for the right memory:

Thanks. I might as well go for the HyperX since the price difference is not really that far.
