Depending on the laptop you have, there may be a button on your keyboard that looks like a wifi router. Try clicking that - should allow you to connect to the wifi. :)

I had a Dell Inspiron lying around. Just checked and the wifi button is just above the number 2. If you have a similar laptop, you may be able to locate it there. :)

Are you trying to connect a laptop via wireless or wired connection?

Is this only a modem, or a modem/router combo (will have more then one etheret port and possibly an antenna on it)?

Some laptops have a physical switch on it to dissable/enable wireless card, others have a function key on a number key like sophiebeth was talking about. Usually it is number 2, so you would press and hold the fn key (usually down by Ctrl and Alt to the left of the space bar) while you press the number key for your model of laptop.

Thanks for your help.My laptop is a Dell.Found fn key and wifi key.Where do I find number key for model of lap top please?

I would use the Device Manager utility built into windows to ensure that your Wireless Card / Drive are up to par and there are no issues.

Thank you, it's taken me 15 months to work out how to do this and your answer finally solved the problem. Debbie
