I am trying to configure three WAPs for use in a large home.
The first is a WRT54G connected to the modem in the basement which will act as the gateway. Connected to the gateway (by way of a 5-port hub) is another WRT54G which is located on the first floor of the residense. Also connected to the first floor hub is a second 5-port hub located on the second floor. A third WAP (WAP54G) is connected to the second floor hub. See attached diagram for the topology.
Should I assign unique static IPs to each of the three WAPs? Should I only enable DHCP on the gateway? What other specific settings must I use in order for all three to work?
Will a WiFi enabled device such as a laptop or smartphone automatically switch to using a stronger WiFi signal when walking from one part of the house to another? Or does this have to be manually changed in the devices' WiFi settings?
