Is an IPS monitor good for a bright room?

Hey guys, I recently purchased an Asus VS-239h. It hasn't arrived yet but I was wondering if IPS performs well in rooms with a lot of natural light? I went to the store yesterday and got an Asus VS VE-247 just to try it out until my IPS arrives. The VE looks great even with all the natural light but will my VS perform well too? I don't know if IPS needs to be a dark room like a plasma needs to.

It should actually be better in good light. IPS panels get glow which is more noticeable in low light. Don't worry about the glow though - it's only usually noticeable when viewed from wide angles and/or on very large panels.

Alright, thanks. I like the way the VE is performing now but I'm sure i'll prefer the better colors of an IPS once it arrives.

Same here. I can't stand TN panels purely because of the colour quality / uniformity (of lack thereof). I still have to use them at work unfortunately but at home it's all good :) Still no perfect panel tech so I'm looking forward to affordable AMOLEDs.
