I just purchased an ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 mobo for the computer I'm building (first one), and I'm trying to figure out if this memory would be compatible: Patriot Viper Xtreme 8GB DDR3 1600MHz, PC3-12800.

I've been using pcpartpicker for most of my building thus far, and it flags if something's incompatible with your setup; problem is, this memory setup isn't listed there.

Memory standard for the mobo is: DDR3 2133(O.C.)/1866/1600/1333/1066. Would a couple of these 8GB sticks (for a total of 16GB) be fine for my setup?

Thanks!

Yes, you should be fine but just don't mix DDR2 and DDR3. Perhaps, you may want to reset the CMOS and do a BIOS update before installing the new memory. Drop us an update on things goes. Cheers, mate!!

Yes, you should be fine unless you are using the Sempron 100 Series processors. I assume you are referring to 16GB (2x8GB) kit rather than a single 16GB module when you say "couple of 16GB)... Yes, 2 x 16GB kit should be fine and it will great with FX series processors.

If you need any memory recommendation other than the partriot memory then lemme knw.

Sorry about that typo; I'll correct in the original. Yes, I was thinking of going 16GB total, meaning purchasing 2 of those 8GB sticks. I am looking at going with the FX-8350 or FX8320 right now (still deciding if price jump is worth it between those); if you have any warnings as to the memory working with those, let me know.

Thanks for the response!
