I have this GELID ICY VISION Rev 2 installed on my GTX 480 and it was a quite war because of the rubbish manual comes with it. however, i found some tutorials on the internet and followed them and installed it like this :
My problem is that when the card is idle, it shows the temperature 51 - 60 C but when loaded with OCCT or a game, temperature rises rapidly (within 4 to 5 seconds) to 98 C. at that point, i always was able to stop the load and minimize the temps again.
my first guess on the fault was that,I have used the thermal paste that comes with the cooler first, but it all got messed up cause i have spread the thermal paste on the GPU and i found it didn't contact with the copper heat sink. So today i bought this copper heat sink compound "balance stars" ( with thermal conductivity 1.829W/m-k, Thermal resistance <0.123, 20% metal oxide compound ) and i put 2 grams of it and resembled the cooler and graphics card again. as seen in the picture, it created a good layer of thermal compound, connecting GPU and cooler. but still I have the same problem! please help!
