Hi all ! I have been trawling Google and so many different sites to see if anyone has achieved overclocking the Q6600 with the Pegatron Benicia 1.01 with 7GB Ram? I have been slowly upgrading my system and it is performing great with the new vid card ( GTX 660 ti) and running Win 8. But yet I feel after my recent purchases are leaving me empty for cash I want to squeeze as much out of the chip as possible.
So far I have tried the usual BIOS re config but board won't let me. So I tried a non mainstream program which worked for a few secs at 3.0ghz then crashed the PC to which I had to recover everything so I have avoided using it since! I know the chip is popular and have seen many clock it to even 3.4ghz so it's more of a question how to get round the BIOS lock?! Any suggestions would be fantastic :)

look into pad mod overclocking might be your only chance but does not work on all boards.

I used this to overclock a Dell Vostro 200 worked great.

Thanks Thent for the option ! I might try that if nothing else prevails ! COLGeek yes that is the one the original system was this http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01514384&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=3755520#N106 . With Obvious changes to PSU to 650W for the 660ti but CPU and board remain the same. But I am thinking on the same lines as you as in the mobo is a lost cause to attempt to OC :( If so is there any other motherboards you would recommend for a decent spec system ?!

Ideally I'd be looking to change to another socket mobo leaving the q6600 in. Future will be changing both so really I'm looking for something cost effective and half decent at the same time! You know the usual get most bang for your buck lol.

you could try to get a p45/p35 based board from Asus second hand on ebay, but you take a chance with that. Or Nvidia 650i/680i/750i/780 board which would also be good for overclocking that chip. I have my q6600 at 3ghz with my P5ne-sli, still rocking after 5 years. I do want to upgrade though, and really my advice would be to save your money, and get a newer I5, Z77/Z87 based system for some super gaming. which is what I will be doing when I get some funds together :)

:) the board looks like its from a terminator movie!! I love it. very nice. Yeah be nice set up :) ill be looking at something like that myself.

Thats a good option thanks for that :) so I guess the overall consensus is it's not possible to Overclock on my current board and to just change the board is a safer or easier bet !?

OEM boards, like your HP one, are simply too locked down to allow for OCing. From an OEM's perspective, they want stable platforms that require minimal support and variability. Giving users access to the settings required for OCing takes away from those objectives.

Changing the board will allow you more flexibility than you have now.

BSEL tape mod is not difficult to do, it will mechanically overclock Q6600 to 3GHz, extra cooling will be required, this is it.
