I'm going to be a freshman in college and i'm majoring in Information Technology. My budget for laptop is about $700. Needs to be able to do all the basic things such as the following: Games (League of Legends), Papers, Music, Movies (Netflix), Programming, etc. I've been searching and it seems like an i5 with 6GB RAM would be my best choice. Here is a few options that I have looked at briefly. Thanks for your help and if you have any other suggestion of laptops feel free to post :)

http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-V5-572G-6679-15-6-inc...

http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-Satellite-L955-S5152-PSKG...

Or...Anything else you recommend. Thanks again

First of all you need to play a real game, like DotA 2 :)

I would contact your school to see if your dept. has any deal with Dell etc., that you can take advantage of. I can get 20-30% off of Dell laptops as a student at my university.

Other than that, I would say go for a budget Dell.

Haha never heard of Dota2 but i'll definitely look into it. Yes, I believe my school gets a discount with Dell and other companies.

I would check out what deals they offer then before I recommend something. You can probably get a pretty nice deal.

DotA (originally a warcraft map) created the genre that League of Legends copied :)  DotA 2 is a standalone game that was released by the original devs. Much better than LoL in my opinion (I played LoL before DotA 2)
