I would like to have two outputs available and both outputs to be locked to a certain program. For example: Have a pair of headphones for my games and then have in ear headphones for music, such as spotify or itunes. How can i do this? And can I use a cheap headphone splitter to do this?

Solution
You can do this with an add-in audio card and your onboard audio(if you have it). The application(spotify/itunes) needs to be able to specify an audio device. Ideally your games would use your default direct sound device and then you could point your application at your other audio device.

If you are asking if you can split two channels of your 5.1 onboard audio to share between your game and application... I don't think that is possible.
