Hello,

I am building a new PC, and i got alot of recommendations of changing my GPU / CPU, but i cant afford doing both, so what would be more effective in terms of running Crysis 3?

Replacing an FX 6300 CPU With the fx 8320

Replacing the Sapphire HD 7870 with the GTX 760

So the rig will either be an FX 6300 with a GTX 760

Or an FX 8350 with a Sapphire HD7870

Which shall it be?

Solution
Well the GTX760 equals and slightly betters an HD7950. So I mean, really, it's an easy decision to make.

There will be a much better gaming performance increase than increasing to a GTX760.

Find where the current bottlneck is. Run task amanger(to check cpu usage) and GPUz(to check gpu usage), run the game at the settings you want to play at(even if it lags) and see where the usages are. If the CPU is 100% and the GPU isnt upgrade the CPU, If the GPU is 100% and the cpu isnt upgrade the GPU, if both are maxed flip a coin. Do this will ensure you are gong to get the right part upgraded, for example of the cpu is at 100% and the GPU was 80% and you upgraded the gpu you most likely wouldn't see a performance difference as the CPu would just bottleck the new card like it was the old.

To a degree, yes. BUT its still a hell of a lot more GPU intense than CPU intensive... So people will benefit more from a greater GPU, as with pretty much every game the last 15 years.

I was going with the FX 6300 and the New powercolor 7870 the rest the specs :
RAM: 8GB Ripjaw
mobo: ASUS-M5A97-R2-0
PSU: 600W

Max budget for graphic card was 200 and pc was 100/ until i found that there are better upgrades for slightly cheaper, i am putting in 50 dollars more so im not sure weather to spend those 50 on a better CPU or GPU

HE IS BUILDING A NEW PC, sweet hell does no one READ anymore...

Oops my bad(too much time in the sun today) was thinking upgrade for some damn reason. In that case go with the fx6300 and the 760. But posting your budget for the tower and we maybe able to post a good build with the best of both worlds.

Calm down, man. Maybe I should have worded it " Your existing setup CHOICE is fine for Crysis 3..."
We're all just trying to help.

I don't believe there is that much difference between the HD7870 and the GTX760. That model Radeon will OC like a monster. I just snagged the XFX for $190 after rebate, and I can't make it go above 55C at 1100/1300. I'm too much of a pansy to go any higher ... LOL

With the FX-6300 being $110 at the Egg for the next few days ... hard to go with anything else.

And you might want to raise your budget, again. The XFX Radeon HD 7970 is $320 after rebate

:D
