Network adapter is not in Network Connections? There isn't even a tab in device manager that's called "Network Adapters"

How do I fix this? I'm hoping that fixing this will stop the constant disconnections of my internet while gaming (2-3 times a day). There is no "Network Adapter" in device manager, but there is a tab named "Unknown" with a yellow gear icon; inside of it is something called "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller". Not sure if this piece of information was of any use, but I hope to get some assistance :/.

Btw, I would be more than willing to attach a a screenshot of my device manager, but I can't seem to find out. Should I just post it on a picture sharing website and link it?

Go HERE and select between the board rev 1.0 and 1.1 -- it will be printed on the board usually in a lower corner or edge. Select drivers for the correct board version, then select your WIn 7 OS (32 or 64 bit, which it will say in the system control panel), select LAN, and download the Realtek LAN driver. Copy it to a USB stick and then extract it to a place on your computer like a temp file and run it.

It sounds like you need to download and install the network adapter driver from the support page at the motherboard manufacturer web site. That yellow mark and unknown name indicate that it has no driver.

What motherboard model and which Windows version/type, also 32 or 64 bit?

Of course, this is for your Ethernet adapter, not a wireless adapter -- do you also have a wireless adapter?

I have a question: You say to copy it to a USB stick and then extract it to my PC, but I don't see the point in that? I'm just curious as to why I need to do that when I can download it directly.

Okay anyways, I ran the setup and I got the message : The RealTek Network Adapter/Controller was not found.
If Deep Sleep Mode enabled Please Plug the Cable.

When the message popped up, I noticed that my internet had disconnected (there was the red X over the internet connection symbol on the bottom most right corner of the taskbar).
The only way I fixed it was to right click the the internet connection symbol and click "Troubleshoot Problems" and it said something about network adapter not working or something. I don't completely remember what it wrote.

Hope you can still assist me from here :/.

It is of course if you are downloading it on another computer. If you still have wireless and can download on the target machine, it is obviously not necessary.

Your built in adapter may be faulty OR turned off in the bios (although if turned off I would not expect to see it at all in device manager) -- I just got a machine from a client that lost the Ethernet adapter function following a lightening strike that apparently affected the wired network. Since nothing else was damaged, I just turned off the onboard adapter in the bios (check to see that yours is actually turned on) and inserted a PCIe Ethernet card (dual RJ45 for $30), installed drivers, now good as new.

I tried to access the BIOS, but once I mashed the DEL button, the only thing that would happen is my screen would go black and say "Out of Range" The only way I could get back to the startup screen is by pressing CTRL + ALT + DEL.

What's the problem now?

That is a very old error that I have not seen in almost a decade. It is usually caused by a monitor set at a resolution above what is supported, see HERE. IIRC I usually fixed it with a bios reset, although it could be a graphic card issue.

What exactly happened to your computer before all of this started, there must be a root cause.

Well there were 2-3 big power outages around the city around 2 weeks ago, but the internet issue had begun far prior to that. In addition, about a month ago, my computer would keep shutting off unexpectedly; I made a forum thread about it here somewhere, quite a few actually. Anyway, turns out it was a PSU issue, so we replaced it and the issue had not persisted since.

I forgot to mention, I remember having a network adapter in the Network Connections called Local Area Connection or something close to that about a week or so ago. It disappeared so abruptly and without any sort of error or notice that I was aware of.

Oh and I also noticed something new: under device manager, there is a new tab called "Other Devices." I noticed it yesterday. Under the tab is an "unknown device." The device status for it reads: "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.
To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver."

Under the details tab, under "value," reads 00000040
CONFIGFLAG_FAILEDINSTALL
