Best 1440p/1600p for my price range?

So I was about to buy these:
http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=80559&vpn=RL2450HT+x3&manufacture=Bundle+Deals&promoid=1364

And use them in portrait mode, but I've heard that not all games work in surround and that my 2x GTX 680 wouldn't be enough to run the latest game everything ultra at 3240 x 1920. And something about SLI being able to "focus" on only 2 screens... So unless any of the later is wrong, this brings me to the other solution.

Computer Specs:
CPU: Intel i3750K @ 3.40Ghz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H
Video Card: Msi GTX 680 2GB
SSD: Intel 330 series 180GB Sata 3
HDD: Random 1tb and 300 gb.
Memory: 8Gb Patriot Xtreme @ 1866Mhz
Þower Supply: Corsair Professional Series HX750 - 750W

1440P (2560x1440) monitors, 27"+.

Anyone have a nice model/brand to recommend for these?

My budget would be around 600-650$ before taxes.

Thanks in advance,
LordAzuRa

Oh thanks I'm going to check the review ^_^ About the Korean monitors, I don't know any of them. Could you state some brand or models and tell me, are they reliable?

The link was/is 3x BenQ RL2450HT 24IN 2MS for 549$ instead of 779$

ALSO:

I'm thinking of pushing the budget more to get extra quality/awesomeness... Do you guys think that it would be worth to going that far for a good monitor/tv (I could use it to watch HDTV in my room too)?

Are some idea.

Edit: I've checked Korean panels a little and would there be a difference between one of the two screen above and this one?

About those Korean models- http://www.pcworld.com/article/2010024/inside-the-shadowy-underground-of-korean-monitor-sales.html

That Dell is REALLY expensive, I don't know if I'd pay over $1,000 for a monitor. The Asus monitor and that BenQ look interesting though.

I've got the Asus PB278Q, and I really love it. I also considered the Korean panels before purchasing the Asus, but to be honest, I read of way too many people complaining about dead pixels, light bleeding, broken/wobbly stands etc.

My opinion is, if you have the money, then buy a more expensive screen. You get what you pay for. Also, just make sure you read the reviews, as some of these screens have higher response times, which make them average for gaming, even though they look great. It all depends on your primary purpose.

Lastly, if your primary use is gaming, I would think about the size carefully. 27" is plenty for gaming, once you go bigger you get to a point where the screen is just too big to sit close to (assuming you don't sit on a couch with a controller). If your primary use is media, then bigger is better imo.

I have a 27" LG IPS 1080p monitor, granted, the pixels are pretty big (noticeably big...) but it's great, I really can't say anything bad about the size.

Yeah, my Asus is also 27", and I think its perfect for gaming. The high resolution ensures that I do not see any pixels, which also helps when sitting close. But any bigger, and I think there will just be too much real estate, for me personally.

I've come to love the extra real estate, I upgraded from a HP 19" 1600x900 monitor that started dying and streaking.

I believe that no 2560 x 1600 exist in the format of 27", right? I've heard that there is such a tremendous difference between 1440p and 1600p, but I've never seen it with my eyes.

Main purpose is for gaming, second is watching anime/movie/series. So I need a good response time (what should I aim for?).

I've read a lot about defects on Korean monitors too, I think I'll stay with the mainstream on that matter for good warranty and everything.

2560x1600 are 30" with a PPI of 100, while 2560x1440 are 27" with a PPI of 108. So no, there is not a tremendous difference except for size, in fact the 27" will actually look a bit sharper than the 30".

A good response time for higher resolution monitors like these is 5ms. You will be hard pressed to find one with a better response time than that.

Let me go out on a limb here and say that 8ms is about the limit for gaming. 8ms and under will do fine

Check the Qnix monitor or the X-star monitor. They are 27" 2560 * 1440 korean monitors. The unique thing about them is that they use Samsung's PLS panel technology opposed to the general IPS (though they are pretty much the same tech). Another thing is that almost every single one of these monitors is able to be overclock to 96Hz - 120Hz easily. I cannot guarantee this if you were to go out and buy one, but the overwhelming opinion online is that they are easily overclocked and are advertised as so.

If you want to read more about them I would go here: http://www.overclock.net/t/1374065/korean-qnix-qx2710-evolution-ll-27-2560x1440-matte-samsung-pls-panel

I am afraid about the dead/bright pixel in these Koreans monitor. I am ready to pay a little more to have something that comes with a good warranty and a very low risk of getting dead pixels without having to RMA 2-3 times. I'm more of the no hassle type of buyer.

And damn, the Asus is already out of stock... I missed it

Consider: http://www.ipsledmonitors.com/

They are US based retailer selling the monitors. They provide a no hassle warranty for 50 bucks. Note that the Xstar or Qnix monitors are the EXACT same panel in the Asus and samsung equivalent 2560*1440 PLS monitors, but without the OSD board, which allows for overclocking of the panel.

Again, I cannot vouch for this retailer, but many people on the forums buy from them so they don`t have to deal with the korean retailers and have the opportunity to to get service without the hassle. Something to also take into account is that these are high res, ips, 120hz capable monitors at a reasonable price. This is the stuff many people dream about in their monitors. Usually you have to sacrifice something to get something else with monitors (...and many other things in life), but these monitors have it all and should not be passed up so easily! For $400 with shipping and a 3 year warranty you can afford to buy 2 of them for the same price as some other 2560 * 1440 monitors. And if you don't like one you can just return it!

I wonder if they ship in Canada though. There's a lot of place that wont do.

Edit: They Do.

I was 5 minutes away of buying this:

Dell U2713HM @ 549.99$ is cheap.

Now I'll have to read about this QX2710 Evolution II (with Display Port, HDMI, and VGA connectivity (I wish an HDMI because I want to connect my HDTV cable on it)) and see if I can find some review, got one day to make up my mind. Sweet thing is that I'd save taxes by purchasing the Korean one. So it would be $519.89 including express shipping and 3 year warranty vs $632.35 for the Dell, same waranty and shipping.

I'll pay the extra money for the Dell U2713HM (113$ more than the Korean brand) to make sure I receive an A+ panel.

Thanks everyone for your opinion and ideas! :D

Choosing the first post as solution since the Asus model review led me to the Dell one which is a little better and cheaper. ^_^

I literally just received my X-star version of these 27" monitors. Took less a week to come here from Korea. This thing is stunning for $279 with free shipping! I would highly recommend these. Unreal!
