Build first gaming PC for $500+ or HTPC+PS4 at release?

I am torn on what to do right now. I currently don't have a desktop PC, and still a student so buying a pc is a must.

Either i build a HTPC now and buy a PS4 for $400, OR build a gaming PC now and upgrade along the way.

I still have a fully functional xbox 360 that i will 100% be getting GTA 5 for. Maybe after 6 months to a year ill stop using it and either be playing on my PS4 or Gaming PC.

Is it smart to wait a couple months anyway to see potential bugs of next gen? and do you guys think the support for current systems will die off quick?

here is my potential build if it helps :p

CPU AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black 3.4GHz Quad-Core $95.98

Motherboard ASRock 960GM/U3S3 FX Micro ATX AM3+ $65.73

Memory Corsair XMS3 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 $55.99

Storage Seagate Barracuda 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM $54.50

Video Card Gigabyte GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB $129.79

Case Zalman ZM-T2 MicroATX Mini Tower $32.27

Power Supply Corsair 430W ATX12V

basically I changed the 650 Ti for a Ti Boost:
It will be good, and be a lot cheaper then HTPC and PS4. That being said, if you plan on upgrading in the future there are some things I would spend more money on. This system would require lots of replacements to upgrade to FX steamroller or another GPU. Let me know if you have any other questions!
