im looking at buying this PSU for my upcoming PC build
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182084

My build will have a GTX 770 4gb. I herd that the GTX 770 and the CPU have to be on different 12v rails. Is this true? If this PSU wont work witch one should i get? Also it has to be 80 plus platinum because the wiring in my house is super old and it has damaged the battery in a few of our phones and my moms laptop. Its really bad! What PSU should i get? will this one work?

i just saw a video that says to the psu has to have 42 amps on the 12v rail. i looked at the specs but it didn't say if it does anywhere. Does it?
the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvSr3YtEQt0

I do need extra wattage because i'm going to run SLI in the future, and i would really like an 80+ platinum because the wiring in my house is horrible and it has killed the battery on a few of our phones and 2 laptops! its that bad.

That power supply should work fine with the 770, however it might be too much power unless you have alot of other components drawing more, which I doubt is the case. I am not sure what exact model of the 770 you are getting, but from the EVGA 770 product specs, it requires a minimum of 42 amps on the 12V rail, which that PSU can output up to 62.5 amps, which gives you alot of room (a but too much room). This PSU also is a single-rail, meaning that yes, it will all go on the same rail. The CPU and GPU don't have to be on different rails, but most of the time it is better as to take out the risk of overdrawing from the PSU and the system shutting down. I would recommend a 600W PSU, such as this one...

You'll want a 500-600W (depending on the TDP of your CPU) 80+ rated with single 12V rail, doesn't matter if it's Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum rated. That's up to you, as long as you don't buy crap that doesn't have 80+ rating. Most of the newer good brand PSUs are all good; Antec, Corsair, Silverstone, Seasonic, Rosewill, Cooler Master etc.

TL;DR: That PSU is too much for your build. Take a look at smaller PSU's (~600W).
