Just some info, I plan to over clock the cpu and maybe the gpu. I've seen the posts about the 760 being cheaper, but here in Oz they're the same price for a card from a good manufacturer. Here's my ideal build (so far, make any comments you like).

AMD FX 8350 (will oc) - 235$
cooler master hyper 212 evo - 39$
ASRock 990FX Extreme3 - 125$
2x4gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 - 89$
1 TB WD caviar black 7200 rpm (i'll get an ssd and switch the boot drive to that when it's a bit cheaper) - 95$
750W OCZ fatal1ty 80 plus bronze (will add a second gpu in 2-3 years) - 115$
Corsair 500R White - 139$
LG dvd/cd writer - 21$

I'm trying to keep this under 1200 AUD$ (not including os, monitor etc.), and at the moment it's sitting on 858$, so i'd like your suggestions to be a gpu priced at ~340$, but if necessary, I can go a little bit over

Edit: This is a 100% gaming machine! I'll be playing games at 1920x1200

I was wondering the same my friend. Both cards are really good and I believe the difference in performance is minimal. Really interested to see what responses you will get. Personally in my country the 760 is 30$ cheaper I would probably go with that although the 7950 can overclock like crazy... I don't know... If you are planning to overclock it go with 7950, if not 760 is still a pretty sweet deal.

I would go with the GTX 760. Here in canada the price is similar and the GTX 760 has the best bang for your buck, Also Nvidia has better drivers and up coming features such as shadow play. I'd say go for the 760, you can play every game at 1080p and its very over clockable
