Headphones cause Keyboard to malfunction

I just purchased the Gamecon 780 surround sound headphones and a Microsoft Sidewinder x4 keyboard and for some reason whenever I plug my headphones in it causes my keyboard to stop working correctly. Everything from the keys not working, to keys repeating over and over, pages in Windows Explorer flashing, can't even open up different pages in control panel like uninstall programs.

I tested it with my old keyboard which is just a plain old Dell keyboard that came with an old computer of mine and I get the same malfunctions with that too. There must be some sort of interference somewhere but I can't pinpoint what it is. I tried to reinstall the drivers but to no avail.

Anybody have any ideas?

My old headset is a cheap logitech headset, it works fine. No keyboard malfunction.

My first thought is that you have a faulty headset. It's new, why not contact the OEM?

OEM? You mean the company that made it? I just tried it again and this time my keyboard was working fine but my mouse wasn't working at all, like it wasn't even plugged in but as soon as I took out the headphones the mouse worked fine. It's pretty weird.

OEM=Original Equipment Manufacturer. They will certainly want to know about this. It's not as odd as you think.

I sent plantronics a message through their support page, I hope that helps.

One thing I did notice in Devices and Printers, my old headset shows up in the Devices section while the Gamecom headset shows up in the Unspecified section.

Okay I finally got everything working right. I tried plugging the headphones into one of the USB 2.0 slots on the front of my computer instead of one of the USB 3.0 slots and it works fine now. I knew the solution would be something simple like that because I couldn't see any reason why it was not working, and I don't quite know what that had to do with it but I'm glad it finally works now.

I have a feeling that the instructions would have told you to use 2.0 and not to use 3.0. If not they should have.
