Hello,
I very recently bought a new computer, it has been fine and dandy until about a few days ago where the monitor would just turn black after a while of using it and I couldn't hear anything coming from the speakers which made me turn it off and turn it on again and then it'd work again. This only happened like once a day but now the computer just turns on and the monitor remains black and it says "No signal"

I've been told that my PSU isn't enough to power my card, but I've managed to borrow a gt240 from a friend but I am still encountering the same problems. I've tried removing the battery for a few minutes and putting it back in but to no avail.

My specs are
AMD FX-6300
PowerColor PCS+ HD7870 Myst. Edition 2GB GDDR5(UEFI READY)
8GB ram
be quiet! SYSTEM POWER 7 400W
Seagate Barracuda 7200 1000GB, SATA 6Gb/s
ASRock 970 Extreme4, AM3+, ATX
AOC N20W (Monitor)
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hi,i have this same..or similar problem that started a few weeks ago while playing planetside 2 the screen would go black and sometimes return but other times it would go black and stay black with the 'no signal' displayed on the screen,

also while downloading a game from steam I left my computer and when I came back it had turned off the display and would not wake up..my computer was still on and running but had to restart.

so anyway i have been considering an upgrade for a few months and this pushed me to do it,so i bought new cpu,new motherboard, new ssd for boot drive and 2 new gtx 780's...for some reason windows was a pain to install with blue screens and freezing but after about 3 attempts i finaly got it installed and did al the...

That sounds close to a problem I was experiencing not to long ago but there are a few difference. I had a 7870 that would work just fine but after the computer would sit and the monitor would enter a sleep state it would not wake up when the mouse was moved. I was able to determine that basically the monitor wouldn't wake up from sleep mode and it was a problem only found on a small number of 7870 cards. I ended up RMA'ing my device twice before they finally provided me with an upgrade which solved my problem. In troubleshooting I tried my original and a loaned video card from the same manufacture and they didn't experience the problem.

So this sounds similar to the problem I had but I suggest trying a different video card if you can and see what happens.

I just found out that there's a system speaker I need to plug in after being directed to and read
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/261145-31-perform-steps-posting-post-boot-video-problems

So I have now, with both of my ram sticks in I got 5 beeps, with 1 out and one in I'm getting three beeps(I think I'm just not putting the ram stick in properly since according to my google skills that's just a memory problem) when they were in properly, 5 beeps.

Now according to http://forums.pureoverclock.com/general-hardware/3935-motherboard-beep-codes.html

"5 Short Beeps.
Your motherboard is complaining. Try reseating the memory and rebooting. If that doesn't help, you should consider another motherboard. You could probably get away with just replacing the CPU, but that's not too cost-effective. Its just time to upgrade!"

So I guess I'm having a motherboard problem now?
Should I ask for a replacement and upgrade my PSU while I'm at it? I'm being told I need at least 500w for my GPU

just ordered a new psu so i will be testing as soon as i get it up and running to see if it is the problem.
