OC stress test temps

Hi there folks

I posted an OC'ing question here yesterday:
http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1745378/overclock-setup-cooler.html

and I've now got my machine running at a moderate boost @ 4.0Ghz :)

I've done some stress testing with my own software--3D rendering--which represents "real world" stress for me, and I'm getting about 70-72C temps--pretty reasonable

but when I run a real stress test, P95, I get upwards of 80 to 85 rather quickly, and I shut it down.

not sure what to make of that discrepancy... the processors are indicating 95% and higher during my "real world" test....

should I be concerned?

thanks!

hmmm, ok, thanks for the advice so far guys :)

I'll have a look at the fan(s), but as far as I know they're good. And I've got the Hyper Cooler 212+ so I should be ok there too.

Maybe it's the paste, or just not seated as well as it could be....

just an update for anyone interested:

so I've gone back and turned vcore to manual, and with a bit of trial and error (including some BSD's) I've got a stable machine running at 4.2Ghz and vcore set to 1.17 I believe (seems low?). Vcore reads at about 1.2 while testing, using CPU-Z

and temps are down a bit, maxing out at 68C (with an ambient temp of 22C).

(this being "real world" testing again--I'm still afraid to run P95 haha)

cheers

to put your mind at ease: 3570k@4.5ghz 1.192v-hyper 212 evo
1 hour prime 95 max temps 79c which is fine for a torture test. gaming in planetside 2 (cpu heavy) barely hits 60c

spoke too soon!

worked like a champ all yesterday, got up this AM and the thing just sits there cycling on/off. Did a hard power off, then the bios pops up with error messages, and says it needs to reset/reload from the backup--basically rejecting it's new glorious settings.

Back to square one.
