I have an Acer Aspire 6530 with a socket S1 QL62 2ghg Turion x2 cpu. Can I upgrade it to a Phenom II Triple-Core N870 HMN870DCR32GM CPU S1 2.3Ghz? Would it be a noticeable upgrade? I want to use it as a media computer and pay Civ 5 and other Steam games on my big screen. This cpu is 33bucks on Amazon. We run W7 and Vista sp2 on it. Thanks!

From what I can tell, you should be able to upgrade it, however I don't know if the heatsink will handle it. Mostly because i haven't looked up the thermal design of the 2 processors. Not sure it'd be a particularly noticeable upgrade unless the software you run is processor heavy vs graphics-card heavy. Some programs rely on the CPU more than the graphics card.
