I found this gaming computer listed on craigslist for $400.00 USD. Is it worth the money? Also, will it be able to handle demanding games well, as well as next gen games?

Specs:
HP Pavillion
CPU: Intel i5-2320 3.0 ghz quadcore
GPU: NVIDIA EVGA GTX 560ti 2gb
RAM: 2x4 gb DDR3 SDRAM-12800
Hardrive: 1000gb 7200 rpm
Monitor: Hanspree HF207
Keyboard and Mouse: Logitech k360 and m25
Case: hp Pavillion
Motherboard is hp pavillion default
PSU: 800W

The only issue that I can forsee would be with cooling, due to the fact that it uses the pavillion's case.

So is it worth $400.00?

Thanks!

No, you will have a HP case and some HP branded mobo. The mobo won't overclock and if you want more speed you need to step up to a new socket. You can salvage the gfx card but its not great. The psu is most likely el-cheapo HP discount stuff.

I was in a bind and I needed a desktop asap a few years ago and I went with an HP. Cheap ram, cheap non overclockable mobo and I had a q6600 OC beast cpu.

Its worth it if you don't need any more power and dont plan on upgrading.

all that for $400??? its not a bead deal for light gaming and gerneral purposes...but for demanding games you will want a stronger GPU, a known brand PSU and MOBO

Hell, he could play Skyrim at least on very high with that 650ti. You could do some serious gaming with it. Nothing like Crysis 3, but it's a fantastic deal for $400, but then again, it's on Craigslist..

Honestly a pretty good price for what you actually get.. All you could really do is swap out the mobo if you wanted opening the door for upgrades down the road like a new GPU, like the new GTX800series. The PSU is more than generous so no problems there.
Even a monitor!

As it sits. Not a bad deal

Thanks!

Im probably going to go check it out this weekend and make sure it works. What should I look for when I am evaluating it?

If he has any games installed on it try them out..
Obviously the visual checks inside the case etc, and check out dxdiag.

If you want to be really thurough, get him to stress test it GPU/CPU.
