Hi I'm almost done building my gaming rig. This is the first build I have done on my own. So here is the problem:
-When I turn my computer on with all the components installed the gigabyte boot screen comes up for a split second then goes to the error message "Reboot and Select proper Boot device or Insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key". I cant enter the BIOS either when I press the delete key (which is what the manual specifies).
-If I take out the sata cables to the HDD and OD it just sits on a black screen with a blinking underscore, no boot or post.
-If I take out the RAM it doesn't boot or go to the blinking underscore, it just sounds like it is powering on over and over again. No beeps or anything.
-I reset the CMOS before each individual test.

My components:
GA-Z87N-Wifi
Intel i5-4670k
8GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
Western Digital Black 1TB HDD
ASUS Optical Drive
H60 Water Cooler

Have you tried holding the enter bios key before you hit the power button (and after you press it). Or rapidly pressing it as soon as you power on? the boot device thing just sounds like your boot order needs to be adjusted...assuming you have a bootable device already, have you installed an OS yet?

Yes, I have tried both ways. No operating system yet.

So have you tried putting a bootable disk in to see if it will start a windows install?

Yes, both from a disk and usb. But it was a cracked Windows 8 my buddy downloaded. So that might be the problem there too. I'm just wondering why I'm getting the error message and can't enter BIOS. I was under the impression that you could enter BIOS without an operating system.

Well I'm more of asking about problems before even trying to install the OS. I can't enter BIOS and I keep getting that error message.

If it is a modern graphical BIOS you have to be pretty quick tapping the key to catch it! You also should see a a "boot option" at the same screen which should let you select the device to boot from.

none of the options work: BIOS, Boot menu, Q-flash, etc.

I have the same problem with this board, I use the same memory as you but the rest is different.

I can boot, install either Ubuntu or win7.1 even update the bios with the provided win software, but I can't enter the BIOS.

How have you solved the problem? I am planing to return the board to the seller as defect.
