How would I create from scratch a f10 system recovery on a new hard drive that did not come with the computer for windows xp pro with sp3?

Solution
HD-based recovery systems usually rely on a hidden partition in the original HD.

Get information (Partition Type ID, File System, Serial Number, First Physical Sector, etc.) on this hidden partition using a partition utility like Partition Magic.

Create an identical cloned partition (with the same hidden partition info) on the new hard drive.

Install the new hard drive as your system's primary drive and you'll have your f10 system recovery on your upgraded setup.
