PSU and Ram

I have a unique problem right now. I accidentally bought the wrong ram but I'm not sure if even the PSU works either. I bought some ripjaws memory that is only compatable with an AM3+ platform and I am FM2. Not only what but I'm not sure if my psu works. it is an NZXT 550w. This is my first build and I am very disappointed. Can someone help me figure out if the PSU is broken? I know the ram is bad but im not sure if the PSU will even run with bad ram.

Thanks in advanced,
Blacklex

you did not say the model of the RAM. I think you are ok ... coz FM2 uses from DDR3-1600 to DDR3-2133 , OFC for onboard GPU , DDR3-2133 is the way to go ... but it will work slower with lower Memory ...

First of all, All DDR3 should work in any mobo that takes DDR3. The RAM is probably o.k.
So, what RAM did you buy? (speed, as in 1333, 1600 etc.)
Why do you think the PSU is bad?

Let's see where it goes. But I'm about to fire up L4D2 so I won't be back for awhile.:)

Ok I just found out that it is able to take the ram I have (sorry) but first, what are some rookie mistakes that might be the problem. Also what is the best way to test a psu?
