I'm currently using my TV as a monitor for my desktop. It is connected by HDMI from my Gigabyte GTX 770 on a Z87X-UD3H. It appears that if my computer is already on and I connect it via HDMI, the TV will display "Retrieving Signal" followed by "No Signal". Then if I follow this by turning my computer off and having the TV on first then it does seem to work and connect, but if my TV hiberates then I have to shut down my PC again. Is this supposed to happen? It seems to be rather inconvenient, I'm happy to provide more information, thanks in advance.

It will be the tv. what tv is it?

If its a cheap tv you would expect that as they can be made to handle hdcp differently compared to more expensive, more hdcp compliant tv.

It would have nothing to do with your computer.

Update your drivers.

Could be either. Also see if there is a firmware update available for your TV.

The TV is a Sharp Aquos 22LE320E, it is cheap but I have no such problems with my PS3 and Laptop secondary display on the same TV, can connect and disconnect that as much as I like. I have tried 3 different cables all of which have the same result. I've now also updated my software on the TV and it still is the same. Although the no signal doesn't seem to be entirely consistent with what I stated above.

I'm having the exact same issue and all the proposed steps (new firmware/drivers/cable) have not worked. Are there any other ideas anyone could suggest?
